manage illness before it becomes a crisis. When serious illness does come, it
should provide excellent treatment without making the illness a financial
catastrophe. That seems like a modest expectation for a wealthy country.

Yet Americans regularly face a different set of questions. Is the doctor in
the network? Will the insurer authorize the treatment? How much of the
deductible is left? Can the appointment wait until the next paycheck? Is
there still a hospital close enough in an emergency?

Comparing MiniMed Pumps

I have used MiniMed insulin pumps for many years. I recently upgraded from a
MiniMed 780G
to a MiniMed Flex.
Overall the Flex is an improvement, but there are some things I wish were
different.

Both systems pair with a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and use its readings
to adjust basal insulin and deliver correction boluses automatically. The
algorithm is currently the same on both pumps, although I believe some future
algorithm updates may be available only for the Flex.
